SCROLL

Shadow

"I am the shadow that lives behind me. The one I think you don't see."

Background

My process is intuitive. I let the process guide me, revealing the figure gradually, almost like uncovering a memory. Her posture is grounded yet graceful, a quiet strength and beauty in stillness. I paid special attention to her hair, using fine tools to create texture and volume that speaks to the me I am inside

Process

I began by selecting smooth, even wooden slats—each one hand-sanded and chosen for its grain and tone, almost like piecing together a story. Instead of carving from a single block, I built her form by layering and joining these slats one by one, letting the contours emerge gradually. I shaped each piece with intention, subtly curving the edges so that, when assembled, they formed a fluid silhouette—strong yet soft.

The Self

I made this piece as a reflection of the me I don't think most people see—strong yet soft, private yet vulnerable, wild but controlled. Each smooth wooden slat was shaped and fitted together to form a whole, not layered but connected, just like the parts of myself I often keep hidden. She’s not just a figure—I see myself in her quiet presence, in the tension between structure and feeling.
