Background
I, Lea, created this piece by combining precise geometric carving with the integration of a glowing red core, symbolizing the tension between structure and energy. The process was about finding harmony between the grounded warmth of wood and the sharp, vibrant pulse of light within it.
Process
I began by designing the form as a series of interlocking geometric planes, then carefully cutting and assembling the wooden panels to achieve clean, sharp edges. Once the structure was complete, I etched fine lines into the surface to enhance its sense of movement and depth. Finally, I embedded alighting system within the central seam, allowing the red glow to radiate outward and bring the piece to life.
The Self
This piece mirrors my life’s journey—walking through fire, being guided by light, and accepting the shadows as part of who I am. The glowing core is the strength I’ve carried through every trial, while the surrounding planes hold the contrasts that have shaped my story.
